My recent stay at Millgate House was an intriguing mix of luxury and practicality, reflecting on both sides of the coin. Nestled off a one-way street, it's easy to miss the turn, leaving you circling a bit before finding your way in. But once settled, the hotel's location is undeniably convenient, with the town center and river just a short stroll away. The reception staff, including the lovely manager Sharon, were friendly and helpful throughout. While my room was clean and comfortable, I faced some heating issues that were promptly addressed with a room change, showcasing good service. Free parking is a definite plus, especially in a busy area. Unfortunately, the hotel seems to shy away from modern amenities, as the restaurant and bar were closed during my visit, which is a missed opportunity. The potential is there, but at the current value, travelers might want to weigh their options carefully. Millgate House is adequate for a short stay, but a few upgrades could elevate the experience.
